Pipeline stages

Updated November 4, 2026

Each job has its own candidate pipeline. Open My Jobs, then open a job to see everyone on it. Two columns sit side by side: Status shows what the candidate said, and Stage shows where your team has them.

Status: what the candidate said

Candidates set their own status. You can't change it.

  • Pending Introduction: the candidate hasn't answered yet.
  • Reviewing Opportunity: they replied asking to see more, or opened the opportunity, and haven't answered yet.
  • Interested: they said yes to this role.
  • Not Interested: they passed on this role.
  • Pending Activation: they said yes and are finishing setting up their account.

Use the filter chips above the list (All, Interested, Needs review, Unlocked, Pending, Declined) to narrow it down. Needs review shows people who are interested in a job you shared with the Talent Network but whose profile is still hidden. Click Unlock · 1 credit to see who they are.

Stage: where your team has them

Stage is for your own tracking. Set it from the Stage dropdown on each row:

  • Not set
  • Shortlisted
  • Screening
  • Interviewing
  • Offer
  • Hired
  • Rejected

A few things to know:

  • Stage is per job. Someone can be at Interviewing on one job and not set on another.
  • Candidates don't see their stage. Nobody learns from Cherrypicker that you shortlisted them or moved them to Offer. The one exception is Rejected, which sends the candidate a decline message (see below).
  • It's optional. Leaving a stage unset is fine. Changing it is free.

Rejecting a candidate

Choosing Rejected opens the Decline candidate window, because the candidate is told about this decision.

  1. Tick one or more reasons.
  2. Add an optional note to the candidate. A note is required if you choose Other.
  3. Click Decline & notify.

The candidate receives your reasons as constructive feedback, by email and in their Cherrypicker app.

Adding someone to another job

From the Talent Network or My Candidates, use Add to Job Pipeline to put a candidate on a job. If they already know your company, Send them this role is ticked by default, and they can answer Interested or Pass for that job. This is free. Untick it to add them quietly.
